National identity card is basis of good governance: Communications Minister Gurung
Communications Minister Gurung, also the spokesperson of the government, said that the national identity card has been made mandatory for social security allowance through an ordinance recently.
KASKI: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said that the national identity card will be an important basis for maintaining good governance.
Receiving the national identity card from Chief District Officer Bharatmani Pandey at District Administration Office Kaski today, he said that it should be considered as ‘Super Citizenship Card’ as it is embedded with modern and scientific technology.
Communications Minister Gurung, also the spokesperson of the government, said that the national identity card has been made mandatory for social security allowance through an ordinance recently.
He said, “A lot of irregularity has occurred through the previous citizenship card. To stop it, we have arranged to use the national identity card as the basis. It is also an important part for good governance.”
According to Minister Gurung, the government considers the national identity card as the main basis for banking transactions, passports and goods. “The National Identity Card is modern and reliable as it is high-tech. A lot of work is done through it. Since it runs on a biometric system, it cannot be stolen. We consider it as basis even when it is used in the civilian app,” said Minister Gurung.
Chief District Officer Pandey said that 27,716 national identity cards have been received so far in the district and distributed to 57,718 people through local ward offices. He informed that the collection of applications for national identity cards is also being conducted in the administration office.
