Nepse Index sees decline on first trading day of the week

KATHMANDU: On the first trading day of the week, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index experienced a decline of double digits.

The NEPSE index dropped by 10.41 points, reaching 2,643.93 points.

On Sunday, a total of 318 companies traded 15,720,367 shares in 94,813 transactions, amounting to a turnover of Rs 9.12 billion, equivalent to Rs 9,128,673,514.

Among the various sectors, Development Banks rose by 0.59%, Hydropower by 0.54%, Microfinance by 0.75%, Mutual Funds by 0.48%, and Other Groups by 0.03%. However, all other sectors saw a decline.

The Finance Group experienced the largest drop, with a decrease of 4.76%. Other sectors with declines included Banking (0.89%), Hotels and Tourism (0.27%), Investment (0.50%), Life Insurance (0.61%), Manufacturing and Processing (1.66%), Non-Life Insurance (0.67%), and Trading (0.75%).

Positive circuit breakers were observed in the shares of Upkar Microfinance Financial Institution Ltd. and Upper MaiLung Khola Hydroelectric Ltd.

Meanwhile, four companies experienced negative circuit breakers—Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) Ltd., NIC Asia Development Bank 082/83, Dolti Power Company Ltd., and Janaki Finance Company Ltd.

The highest turnover was recorded by Sapta Koshi Development Bank Ltd., which reached Rs 395.37 million.

In terms of share transactions, Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd. saw the highest number of shares traded, with 411,627 shares bought and sold.
