KATHMANDU: The debate over the bail hearing of former Home Minister and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) president Rabi Lamichhane is set to continue today at the Rupandehi District Court.
The hearing, which began on Thursday, is being conducted by Judge Pralhad Kumar Yogi.
As the debate was not concluded on Friday, the case was postponed to the next day.
During the previous session, two lawyers representing the plaintiff and three from Lamichhane’s side presented their arguments.
However, due to pending arguments from other lawyers, the bail process has been extended.
Yagya Murti Gyawali, a registrar at the Rupandehi District Court, confirmed that the debate would continue today.
He mentioned that the questioning between the plaintiffs and defendants might be concluded today, and the court could issue its order after the debate.
On Jan 19, an additional case was filed against Lamichhane, former DIG Chhabilal Joshi, cooperative guardian Gitenndra Babu (GB) Rai, and 22 others in connection with the Supreme Cooperative Savings scam.
Lamichhane, who was arrested on Oct 18, had previously been granted bail after paying Rs. 6.5 million for the Surya Darshan Cooperative scam in Pokhara and Rs. 6 million for the Swarnalaxmi Cooperative scam in Kathmandu.
