KATHMANDU: Liverpool continued their march at the top of the Premier League with an impressive 4-1 victory over Ipswich Town on Saturday.

The win at Anfield extended Liverpool’s lead to six points, with Cody Gakpo scoring twice and Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah adding one goal each. Ipswich’s Jacob Greaves scored a late consolation goal.

Szoboszlai opened the scoring in the 11th minute, giving Liverpool an early advantage. Salah doubled the lead in the 35th minute, followed by Gakpo’s strikes in the 44th and 66th minutes, putting the home side in full control. Greaves managed to pull one back for Ipswich in the dying moments.

Man City Secure comeback win against Chelsea

Defending champions Manchester City climbed to fourth place with a commanding 3-1 victory over Chelsea. Goals from Josko Gvardiol, Erling Haaland, and Phil Foden overturned Noni Madueke’s opener for Chelsea.

The win takes City to 41 points from 23 matches, while Chelsea sits sixth with 40 points.

Liverpool remain at the summit with 53 points, having played one fewer game than second-placed Arsenal, who have 47 points.

Ipswich, with just 16 points from 23 matches, remains in the relegation zone.
