Woman dies in Kavre furniture factory fire, husband injured
Tikadevi Dangol, a resident of Sankharapur Municipality-1, Kathmandu, was killed in the blaze.
KAVREBHANJYANG, Dhulikhel Municipality-9: A fire at the Shyamsundar Furniture and Timber Industry claimed the life of a 70-year-old woman and injured her husband.
Tikadevi Dangol, a resident of Sankharapur Municipality-1, Kathmandu, was killed in the blaze caused by an electrical short circuit.
Her husband, Toyanath Dangol, aged 73, sustained injuries, according to the District Police Office, Kavre.
Toyanath worked as a laborer at the factory.
The fire broke out around 9 PM on Friday and was brought under control by 1:45 AM on Saturday with the assistance of five fire engines and security personnel.
The inferno caused an estimated loss of Rs 9 million, said DSP Min Bahadur Ghale.
The fire not only destroyed the furniture factory but also engulfed a nearby house and shed.
Authorities are investigating the incident further.
