‘Curb sales of contraband drugs’

SIRAHA: Stakeholders expressed concern over the unchecked sales of contraband medicines and called for stringent measures to curb it.

Central President of the Association, Prakash Khandelwal underscored regular monitoring to prevent illegal sales of prohibited drugs.
“Complaints are pouring in that drugs that are not registered and renewed at the Department of Drug Administration are still being sold,” he asserted, urging a prompt control over it. He informed that a drug related legislation was in the offing.
Likewise, Shivanath Singh, newly elected President of the Association’s Madhesh Province, viewed the Association should proactively coordinate efforts with the Department of Drug Administration to address the problems facing pharmaceutical entrepreneurs.
Newly elected Pappu Kumar Jha drew the attention of the government towards ensuring safety and security for the pharmaceutical entrepreneurs and easy availability of drugs in rural areas.
Similarly, Bikash Sarada, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lahan, expressed his concern over the harmful effects of banned drugs sales among the youths, thereby warranting strict control over it.
Lahan Municipality’s Mayor Mahesh Prasad Chaudhary recognized the importance of pharmaceutical sector and pledged effective coordination and collaboration with the stakeholders to ensure proper registration, renewable, monitoring and management of drugs within the municipality.
An 18-member executive committee led by Singh was elected by the convention held last month.
