40 new buses on Thankot-Dhulikhel route

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan Transport Pvt. Ltd. has launched a new bus service from Thankot to Dhulikhel, marking a significant expansion in its operations.
The service was inaugurated on Thursday during a ceremony held in Kathmandu.
Previously operating primarily within Kathmandu’s Ring Road, the company has added 40 new Tata buses to its fleet, bringing the total number of buses to 89.
During the event, Sipradi Trading Pvt. Ltd. officially handed over the keys to the new buses to Metropolitan Transport Pvt. Ltd.
With these additions, the company has expanded its services beyond the Ring Road to new routes, including Chandragiri, Godam, and Thankot in Kathmandu, and Banepa to Dhulikhel in Kavrepalanchowk.
Vice Chair Santosh Khatiwada confirmed the expanded routes and shared plans to transform the company into a public limited company.
Furthermore, Metropolitan Transport is preparing to introduce 10 electric buses in the near future, with a goal to operate 50 electric buses within a year.
