Woman succumbs to injuries in road accident

KATHMANDU: A woman injured in a road accident on Monday evening in Bhaktapur has passed away during treatment.
Sapana Rai, originally from Bhojpur and residing in Pepsicola, Kathmandu, succumbed to her injuries while undergoing medical care.
The accident also involved her three-year-old daughter, Ishwori, who sustained minor injuries and has been discharged after treatment.
The collision occurred at Divyeshwari Road, Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-2, involving a car (Ba. Pra. 01-027Ch.927) and a motorcycle (Ba. 50 Pa.741), both traveling in the same direction.
According to preliminary investigations by the police, the car was driven by 34-year-old Krishna Prasad Gautam of Sunapati Rural Municipality-1, Ramechhap, currently residing in Budhanilkantha.
Sapana Rai, critically injured in the crash, received initial treatment at Motherland Hospital before being transferred to Kathmandu Medical College, Sinamangal, for further care.
Unfortunately, doctors confirmed her death on Wednesday.
Following the incident, the car driver, Gautam, has been taken into custody by Thimi Police Circle for further investigation.
Bhaktapur District Police Office has stated that an inquiry into the incident is ongoing. Sapana Rai’s body remains at the hospital.
