Rupandehi District Court orders Rabi Lamichhane to appear on Thursday

The court has ordered that Lamichhane be placed under the responsibility of his wife, Nikita Poudel Lamichhane, and his legal counsel.

KATHMANDU: Rupandehi District Court has instructed former Home Minister and President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, to appear before the court on Thursday (tomorrow).

The court has ordered that Lamichhane be placed under the responsibility of his wife, Nikita Poudel Lamichhane, and his legal counsel.

The directive was issued by Judge Pralhad Kumar Yogi’s bench, according to court information officer Ananta Raj Marasini.

Lamichhane is required to present himself at the court by 10 a.m.

The order follows the conclusion of his statement regarding his alleged involvement in the Supreme Cooperative fraud case.

Lamichhane had appeared in court earlier today after being named in the case filed at Rupandehi District Court.

Lamichhane arrived in Rupandehi from Kathmandu on Tuesday

. A supplementary charge sheet in the Supreme Cooperative fraud case was filed last Sunday, implicating 22 individuals.

The accused are charged with embezzling Rs 555.9 million.

Previously, Lamichhane posted NRs 6.5 million bail in the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud case at Kaski District Court, Pokhara.

He also appeared at Kathmandu District Court in connection with the Swarnalaxmi Cooperative embezzlement case, posting Rs 6 million bail for release in that case as well.
