‘Mukkumlung Chotlung of Yakthung’ play showcased at Mandala Theatre (photos)

KATHMANDU: The play “Mukkumlung Chotlung of Yakthung” is currently being performed at Mandala Theatre in Thapagaon, New Baneshwor, from Jan 17.

Directed by young director Anil Subba, the play highlights the cultural heritage and history of the Yakthung (Limbu) community.

It explores the challenges posed by modernity and the efforts made to preserve their identity.

Inspired by the mythological figure Mujingna Kheyngna of the first woman on Earth, the play incorporates the recent events surrounding the protection and movement of Mukkumlung.

Written jointly by Anil Subba, Gilu Ratos, and Vishnu Moktan, the production features a talented cast, including Vishnu Moktan, Bedana Rai, Suraj Tamu, Pratina Rai, Manhang Lavati, Shobha Limbu, Soujan Senahang, Mani K Rai, and Bhumika Tharu.

The play will run until Feb 9, with performances every evening at 5 PM, except Mondays, and a Saturday matinee at 1 PM.
