Man shot dead, 2 arrested
Kusari had gone hunting with two others in a local forest on Thursday.
KATHMANDU: A 25-year-old man from Dang, initially believed to have died from a fall while hunting, was found to be a victim of gunshot homicide.
Prem Bahadur Kusari of Dangisharan Rural Municipality-2, Kauwaghari, succumbed to his injuries on Friday while undergoing treatment in Nepalgunj, according to Dang District Police Chief SP Arjun Prasad Timilsina.
Kusari had gone hunting with two others in a local forest on Thursday.
Initially, his companions claimed he was injured after falling from a tree. However, further investigation revealed bullet injuries on his body.
Police arrested Chhabilal Dangi and Pushpa Basnet of Dangisharan-2 on Saturday in connection with the case. A traditional firearm (bharuwa gun) was recovered from their possession.
SP Timilsina stated that the funeral preparations on Saturday were halted after authorities received information about a gunshot wound, leading to a post-mortem examination that confirmed the presence of bullet fragments.
The investigation is ongoing.
