KATHMANDU: Dr. Nicholas Bhushal, accused of photographing Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane in custody, faces cybercrime charges.

The case was filed on Friday at the Kaski District Court under the Electronic Transactions Act.

Bhushal was arrested for the second time on Thursday in connection with the incident. He had been previously apprehended on Dec 22.

The government prosecutor’s office filed a formal charge sheet after uncovering additional evidence during the investigation.

The charge sheet alleges that Bhushal used his Facebook account to publish sensitive materials that compromised the security of the Kaski District Police Office.

The content reportedly disrupted peace and security, violated confidentiality, and interfered with the ongoing investigation and prosecution process.

The court filing claims Bhushal violated Section 47(1) of the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063.

Prosecutors are seeking punishment as prescribed under the law.
