KATHMANDU: If you’ve been receiving unsolicited calls from unfamiliar numbers or suspicious emails promising enticing offers, be cautious!

These messages and conversations could lead to serious financial loss or even render you homeless.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dipakaraj Awasti, spokesperson for the Nepal Police Cyber Bureau, urges the public to avoid responding to or trusting messages from unknown sources.

Many individuals have fallen victim to scams by replying to or believing in messages from unfamiliar contacts or emails.

Recently, the Nepal Police has received complaints about fake emails, often using the names and ranks of police officers or specialized offices like the Cyber Bureau.

DSP Awasti confirmed that such fraudulent messages have caught the attention of the bureau, which is now investigating the matter.

He emphasized, “These emails are fake and should not be trusted. We request everyone not to respond or engage with these types of communications.”

For those receiving suspicious emails, the Cyber Bureau is conducting investigations. Anyone with doubts is encouraged to contact the bureau through official channels listed on their website, cyberbureau.nepalpolice.gov.np.

The bureau has also issued a public notice urging the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
