Cold wave disrupts life in Terai-Madhesh (photos)

KATHMANDU: Severe cold, coupled with icy winds, fog, and dense mist, has significantly disrupted daily life in Nawalparasi and other parts of the Terai-Madhesh region.

The persistent cold weather, with little to no sunlight and chilling winds, has hit low-income and marginalized labor groups the hardest.

Many underprivileged families are forced to spend their days warming themselves by fires, while local businesses have slowed down drastically due to the freezing conditions.

Residents report that the biting cold has not only hampered trade and commerce but also led to a drop in student attendance at schools.

In some areas, schools have declared winter holidays to cope with the extreme weather.

The ongoing cold wave continues to pose challenges for the vulnerable population in the region.
