Nobel Medical College pioneers surgery-free cancer treatment in Nepal
The initiative was led by Nepali Congress MP Dr. Sunil Sharma, who implemented the technology at Nobel Medical College.
KATHMANDU: Nobel Medical College in Biratnagar has become the first institution in Nepal to offer surgery-free cancer treatment, utilizing state-of-the-art radiation therapy technology.
This advanced technology, introduced for the first time in Nepal, is among the most sophisticated in Asia and is currently available in only nine locations across the continent.
The initiative was led by Nepali Congress MP Dr. Sunil Sharma, who implemented the technology at Nobel Medical College.
Equipped with groundbreaking features such as Six-Dimensional Couch, Hyper Arc, HD MLC, SRS, and SBRT, the technology targets and eliminates cancer cells without affecting surrounding healthy tissue.
It employs IGRT, IMRT, and VMAT techniques, ensuring precision while minimizing damage to non-cancerous cells.
The pain-free procedure allows for the destruction of cancer cells deep within the body with the aid of advanced equipment.
To enhance its effectiveness, a cutting-edge 4D RTCCT CT scan machine has been integrated into the system.
Additionally, a specialized bunker has been constructed for radiation therapy, accompanied by services such as OPD, daycare, chemotherapy, and surgical facilities.
Dr. Sharma, renowned for prioritizing public health, aims to set a new benchmark in cancer treatment with this revolutionary service.
His commitment extends beyond technology; he has consistently provided free healthcare services to underprivileged families and invested in acquiring advanced medical equipment.
In his broader healthcare initiatives, Dr. Sharma has organized free health camps across Nepal, benefiting millions of citizens from the far east to the far west.
Patients requiring further treatment from these camps have received free care at Kathmandu Medical College and Nobel Medical College.
Furthermore, Dr. Sharma has allocated free cabins at Nobel Medical College for residents of his constituency.
Similarly, at Kathmandu Medical College in Sinamangal, he ensures free treatment for financially disadvantaged individuals.
With the introduction of surgery-free cancer treatment, Nobel Medical College and Dr. Sharma continue to pioneer healthcare advancements in Nepal, making world-class medical services accessible to all.
