Arsenal beats Tottenham 2-1 in EPL clash
Tottenham took the lead in the 25th minute when Son found the back of the net.
KATHMANDU: Arsenal secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League (EPL) on Thursday.
The match, played at Arsenal’s home ground, saw Leandro Trossard scoring one goal and another coming from an own goal by Tottenham’s Davinson Sánchez.
Son Heung-min was the lone scorer for Tottenham.
Tottenham took the lead in the 25th minute when Son found the back of the net.
However, Arsenal equalized in the 40th minute after Sánchez’s own goal.
Just before halftime, in the 44th minute, Trossard scored what turned out to be the winning goal for the Gunners.
With this win, Arsenal climbed to second place in the league table with 43 points from 21 games, trailing leaders Liverpool by four points.
Liverpool has 47 points from 20 matches.
Meanwhile, Tottenham remains in 13th place with 24 points from 21 games.
In other Thursday fixtures, Newcastle United defeated Wolves 3-0, Leicester City lost 2-0 to Crystal Palace, and Aston Villa edged past Everton with a 1-0 victory.
