Western disturbance brings rain & snowfall in parts of Nepal
Currently, hilly regions across the country are experiencing partial cloud cover, while parts of Sudurpaschim Province and the Terai are blanketed in fog.
KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported a partial influence of a western low-pressure system over Nepal, with a new weather system entering the country, increasing the likelihood of rain and snowfall.
Currently, hilly regions across the country are experiencing partial cloud cover, while parts of Sudurpaschim Province and the Terai are blanketed in fog.
During the day, Karnali and Sudurpaschim, along with hilly areas of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, are expected to witness partly to generally cloudy conditions, with partial clouds in other regions.
Light to moderate rainfall is likely in some areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, while isolated light rain is expected in the hilly regions of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
Additionally, a few locations in the high hills and mountainous areas of other provinces may experience light snowfall.
At night, the hilly regions of Gandaki and Karnali provinces are expected to remain partly to generally cloudy, while other parts of the country will have partial cloud cover.
Light snowfall is possible in isolated areas of the high hills and mountains in Karnali, as well as in other provinces.
The department has advised caution, as light to moderate rainfall in some locations of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, along with isolated light rain in Gandaki and Lumbini, may disrupt daily life, health, transportation, tourism, and aviation activities.
Light snowfall in the high hills and mountainous regions of Karnali, Sudurpaschim, and Gandaki provinces could further affect these sectors. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions.
