KATHMANDU: Former DIG and ex-operator of Gorkha Media Network, Chhabilal Joshi, has been reported out of contact with the Kathmandu District Court.

Joshi, previously implicated in the Pokhara-based Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud case, had been released on a bail of Rs 8.8 million following an order by the Kaski District Court.

However, he later faced charges in another cooperative fraud case linked to Swarnalaxmi Cooperative, registered at the Kathmandu District Court.

According to Amar Bahadur Chand, spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Court, Joshi and other defendants have failed to appear in court.

Chand told Makalu Khabar, “Except for Ravi Lamichhane, the other defendants are currently not in contact. We were informed that Joshi was sent on family custody with instructions to present himself in court. We assume he will appear after Lamichhane’s hearing concludes.”

At present, the court is conducting a remand hearing for Ravi Lamichhane. Chand stated, “After this hearing, the remaining defendants may gradually appear.”

Previously, on Jan 9, a bench of Judge Nitiz Rai at the Kaski District Court had ordered the release of Rabi Lamichhane, Chhabilal Joshi, and five others on bail regarding the cooperative fraud case.
