Congress leader Koirala and former UNMIN Nepal Chief met
Martin expressed concerns over the prolonged conclusion of Nepal’s peace process and emphasized the need for its swift resolution.
KATHMANDU: Dr. Shekhar Koirala, leader of the Nepali Congress, held a meeting with Ian Martin, former head of the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) and a key figure in Nepal’s peace process.
During the meeting, held as part of Dr. Koirala’s visit to the United Kingdom, the two discussed various aspects of Nepal’s peace process.
Martin expressed concerns over the prolonged conclusion of Nepal’s peace process and emphasized the need for its swift resolution.
According to Dr. Koirala’s personal secretariat, he agreed on the importance of not delaying peace-related issues further.
Martin highlighted that, despite the successful integration of the once-rebellious party into the electoral process and the absence of violence in Nepal today, transitional justice remains unfinished.
He urged Dr. Koirala to prioritize the early resolution of this critical matter.
