Jhapa bus accident: 11 injured

KATHMANDU: At least 11 individuals were injured when a passenger bus (Me 1 Kha 2545) met with an accident in Dharampur, Shivasatakshi Municipality-1, Jhapa, on Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred at around 6:30 am as the bus was traveling from Kakarbhitta to Dharan.

According to the police, the bus belonging to Civil Transport lost control, overturned, and veered off the road.

Among the injured are Guna Koirala (54), Deepa Niraula (34), Mary Niraula (17), Nirmala Niraula (38), and Sharmila Koirala (59), all residents of Biratnagar-3.

Others injured include Tanka Siwakoti (32), Ansa Fiyaden (30), and Sumana Limbu (21) from Shivasatakshi-8, Jhapa; Pushpa Lal Adhikari (51) and Chandrakala Adhikari (49) from Birtamode Municipality-6; and Shantiram Khatiwada (40) from Kamal Rural Municipality-6.

All the injured are reported to be in stable condition and are receiving treatment at B&C Hospital and Research Center Pvt. Ltd.

The driver, 54-year-old Tika Meche of Dhulabari, Mechinagar-10, has been detained by the Area Police Station, Jhiljhile, for further investigation.
