Thankot: Man stabs woman over denial of acquaintance
The incident occurred at a vegetable shop owned by Saru’s sister in Thankot Bazaar.
KATHMANDU: Saru Magar, a 27-year-old woman originally from Dang and currently residing in Thankot, Chandragiri Municipality-3, was stabbed on Jan 10.
The incident occurred at a vegetable shop owned by Saru’s sister in Thankot Bazaar.
Saru sustained injuries to her neck and face and was initially taken to Med Point Hospital in Satungal.
Due to the severity of her condition, she was later referred to Trauma Center, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Police have arrested 35-year-old Chandra Bahadur Khatri, a resident of Gangadevi Rural Municipality, Rolpa, in connection with the incident.
According to Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari of Kathmandu District Police Range, Khatri has been charged with attempted murder, and further investigation is underway following a court-issued remand.
Initial investigations reveal that Khatri and Saru were acquainted before the incident. Khatri had recently returned to Nepal after working in Saudi Arabia for five years.
During his time abroad, he claimed to have sent money to Saru.
However, upon his return, Saru allegedly refused to recognize him, which led to Khatri stabbing her in a fit of rage.
Police reports state that Khatri attacked Saru with a knife at the vegetable shop after attempting to contact her.
The case remains under investigation to uncover further details.
