Barcelona wins record 15th Spanish Super Cup, defeats Real Madrid 5-2

KATHMANDU: Barcelona clinched a record 15th Spanish Super Cup title on Sunday, overturning a one-goal deficit to defeat Real Madrid 5-2.

The match, held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, marked Barcelona’s first title under coach Xavi Hernandez.

Real Madrid initially took the lead through Kylian Mbappé’s goal. However, Barcelona responded with Lamine Yamal’s equalizer.

Robert Lewandowski converted a penalty, while Raphinha scored two goals and Alejandro Balde added one more.

Despite a goal from Real’s Rodrigo, Barcelona maintained control and secured the victory.

This win is Barcelona’s second triumph over Real Madrid this season, having previously defeated them 4-0 in La Liga at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Despite a rough patch in the league, Barcelona emerged as Super Cup champions.
