KATHMANDU: Nepal Police Club has advanced to the final of the Jay Trophy Elite Cup Cricket Tournament after defeating Bagmati Province.

In the last league match, Nepal Police secured a five-wicket victory over Bagmati Province to claim their place in the final.

Chasing a target of 116 runs set by Bagmati on Sunday, Nepal Police reached the target with five wickets in hand.

Amit Shrestha shone for Police with consistent performances, smashing back-to-back half-centuries.

After scoring an impressive 79 runs in the first innings, he followed up with 56 runs off 44 balls in the second innings.

Kushal Bhurtel gave Police a blistering start in the second innings, scoring 32 runs off just 19 balls before being dismissed.

For Bagmati, Sandeep Lamichhane took two wickets, while Nandan Yadav, Surya Tamang, and Pratish GC claimed one wicket each.

The final will see Nepal Police Club face Tribhuvan Army Club in a three-day match scheduled to take place in Birgunj from Jan 14 to 16.
