KATHMANDU: The District Police Office, Makawanpur, has apprehended three individuals with significant quantities of opium, hashish, and cannabis.

Along with the suspects, two Indian-registered cars were also seized.

According to the police, the first incident occurred around 2 AM near Naukhandi on Tribhuvan Highway in Thaha Municipality-11.

During a routine check by the Area Police Office, a car with Indian license plate DL 8CX 1224 was found to contain 21.46 kg of hashish and 3.47 kg of opium.

The car occupants, Kunal Gothwal (25) and Manish Kumar (20), residents of Govind Nagar, Hisar, Haryana, India, were taken into custody.

The second seizure happened at 5:30 AM at the Ratomate checkpoint in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-15.

Police inspected an Indian car with license plate DL 13C 1561, en route from Chitwan to Birgunj, and discovered 101 kg of cannabis.

The vehicle’s occupant, Rajan Raut Kurmi (20) of Atraha Sugouli, Birgunj Metropolitan City-26, was arrested.

The police stated that investigations are ongoing regarding the arrested individuals.
