KATHMANDU: Manchester City secured a stunning 8-0 victory against Salford FC in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday, with James McAtee stealing the spotlight with a brilliant hat-trick.

Playing on home turf, McAtee’s heroics were complemented by Jeremy Doku, who scored twice, while Devine Mubama, Nico O’Reilly, and Jack Grealish each contributed a goal to complete the rout.

City took the lead in the 8th minute through Doku. Mubama doubled the advantage in the 20th minute.

O’Reilly made it 3-0 in the 43rd minute, followed by Grealish’s penalty goal in the 49th minute to extend the lead to 4-0.

McAtee scored his first in the 62nd minute, pushing the lead to 5-0.

Doku then added his second from the penalty spot in the 69th minute. McAtee completed his hat-trick with goals in the 72nd and 81st minutes, sealing an emphatic victory for the reigning champions.

With this win, Manchester City advanced to the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Joining them are Liverpool, Birmingham City, Leicester City, Chelsea, Coventry, Leeds United, Stoke City, Exeter City, and Burnley, who all secured their places with impressive performances on Saturday.
