KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President and former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane appeared at the Kathmandu District Court in connection with the Swarnalaxmi Cooperative fraud case.

Lamichhane, named as a defendant in the case, voluntarily appeared at the court on Sunday.

Just days earlier, he was released on bail by the Kaski District Court in a separate fraud case involving Pokhara’s Suryadarshan Cooperative.

After arriving in Kathmandu on Friday, Lamichhane came into police contact, leading to his presentation at the Kathmandu District Court.

The legal process began with his statement, followed by a detention hearing to decide whether he will be released or kept in custody.

In the Suryadarshan case, the court had ordered his release on a bail of Rs 6.5 million after 84 days in custody.

Meanwhile, additional fraud cases are reportedly being prepared against Lamichhane in Rupandehi (Supreme Cooperative), Chitwan (Sahara Chitwan), and Parsa (Sano Paila Cooperative).
