Makwanpur road accident: 2 killed, 12 injured
The injured are receiving treatment at Elive Hospital in Chitwan, while the Scorpio driver remains at large.
KATHMANDU: Two people lost their lives, and 12 others sustained injuries in a collision between a Scorpio and a car at Dipart, Manahari Rural Municipality-6, along the East-West Highway on Saturday.
The crash occurred when a Scorpio (Bagmati Province 01–026 Ch 5250) traveling from Birgunj to Chitwan collided head-on with a car (Ba 16 Ch 8324) heading towards Hetauda from Chitwan.
The deceased have been identified as 60-year-old Surendra Lal Shrestha of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-4, School Road, who was driving the car, and 50-year-old Sunita Shrestha of Rapti Municipality-2, Gadyauli, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shyamu Aryal. Both died while undergoing treatment at Chitwan Hospital and New Medical College.
Twelve others, including car passengers and those in the Scorpio, sustained injuries. Among the injured are Om Kumar Shrestha (55) and Sumina Shrestha (21) of Rapti-2, Gadyauli; and passengers from the Scorpio, including Poojadevi Sah (26) and her 8-year-old daughter Priyanshi Sah, along with several others aged between 4 and 23 years from Birgunj Metropolitan City-2, Chapkaiya.
