KAATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President and former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane is scheduled to appear at the Kathmandu District Court on Sunday morning.

According to RSP’s Deputy Treasurer Deepak Bohara, Lamichhane will present himself at the court at 8:30 AM.

Bohara stated, “As per Rabi Dai, he is on his way to Kathmandu after completing necessary legal proceedings in Kaski. He will coordinate with the concerned authorities and appear before the court as planned.”

Although initially set to travel by air, Lamichhane opted for road travel due to interactions with party leaders and supporters, said RSP Acting Spokesperson Manish Jha.

Lamichhane was recently released on Thursday evening after being implicated in the Surya Darshan Cooperative fraud case in Pokhara.

He had been in custody for 84 days following his arrest from the party’s central office in Banasthali on Oct 18.

The Kaski District Court, under Judge Nitiz Rai, ordered Lamichhane’s release on a bail amount of Rs 6.5 million. Alongside him, six other individuals accused in the cooperative fraud case were also granted bail.

Additionally, Lamichhane is facing allegations regarding the misappropriation of savings from Swarnalakshmi Cooperative in Kalimati, Kathmandu.

A case has been filed against him at the Kathmandu District Court. He is set to appear in court as part of the conditions for his release.
