Two killed in accident in Dhankuta’s Pakhribas

KATHMANDU: Two people lost their lives in a pickup van accident on the Pakhribas-Hile road section in Pakhribas Municipality-3 on Thursday night.

The incident occurred around 9 PM at Jautar when the vehicle, bearing license plate Ko 1 Ja 2639, veered off the road and fell approximately 150 meters down a slope.

The van was transporting three pigs from Pakhribas to Hile when the accident happened.

According to District Police Office spokesperson DSP Om Prakash Khanal, the deceased include the driver, 39-year-old Shukra Bahadur Tamang of Pakhribas-9, Uttarapani, and the assistant driver, 24-year-old Pramod Mallik of Lahan-5, Siraha.

Mallik died on the spot, while Tamang was pronounced dead shortly after being rushed to the district hospital.

The vehicle remains at the crash site, while the pigs survived the accident.
