KATHMANDU: Mercure Kathmandu Hotel, a five-star establishment, has officially opened at Sukedhara Heights, Kathmandu.
The luxurious hotel is the brainchild of dynamic young entrepreneur Deshbandhu Basnet, who invested over Rs 3 billion in its construction.
Basnet, a progressive businessman, has established this state-of-the-art hotel in Sukedhara Heights.
Known for his leadership in Nepal’s industrial and business sectors, he serves as an executive member of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and chairs its Air and Transportation Committee.
Additionally, Basnet holds the position of Honorary Consul of Zambia in Nepal and is the Chair of AB Holdings. Although an engineer by education, he swiftly transitioned into becoming a successful entrepreneur.
Over the years, he has contributed significantly to Nepal’s economic growth by developing multiple hotels and resorts across the country, creating thousands of job opportunities.
The opening of the five-star Mercure Kathmandu Hotel is another milestone in his illustrious career.
The Mercure brand, known for its French heritage, marks its debut in Nepal with this luxury hotel. Featuring world-class amenities, the hotel boasts an Italian restaurant and three distinct kitchens on the ground floor.
A banquet hall on the first floor can accommodate up to 400 guests, making it an ideal venue for large gatherings, conferences, and weddings. The hotel also includes ample outdoor facilities for events.
The hotel offers four categories of rooms, including suites, spread across its 11-story structure, comprising a total of 104 premium rooms. Fitness enthusiasts will find dedicated spaces for gym, steam, and sauna facilities on the 10th and 11th floors.
The rooftop features a swimming pool and a bar, providing a spectacular view of the Himalayas and the Kathmandu Valley.
Beyond the hotel, Basnet has beautified the surrounding area, transforming vacant spaces into attractive landscapes. He has also constructed a 140-meter paved road connecting the hotel to the main thoroughfare and developed a green park in front of the hotel.
Spanning six ropanis of land, the Mercure Kathmandu Hotel has, directly and indirectly, created employment opportunities for 180 to 220 individuals.
