Kaski Court orders bail for 7 in Surya Darshan Cooperative fraud case

KATHMANDU: The Kaski District Court has ordered the release on bail of seven individuals who were detained in connection with the fraud case involving Surya Darshan Cooperative in Pokhara.

On Thursday, a bench of Kaski District Court, presided over by Judge Nitij Rai, issued the order to release the detainees, including Rabi Lamichhane, the president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), on bail.

The court has set a bail amount of 6.5 million rupees for Rabi Lamichhane.

Former DIG Chhabilal Joshi has been asked to pay 8.8 million rupees, while former Member of Parliament Meena Gurung must pay 500,000 rupees, her father Krishna Bahadur Gurung 100,000 rupees, Lila Pachhai 3.7 million rupees, Aarati Gurung 500,000 rupees, and Ram Bahadur Khanal 1.5 million rupees.

The detention hearings for the defendants had begun on Dec 31.
