Rabi Lamichhane granted bail of Rs 6.5 million
The Kaski District Court ordered his release on Thursday after he posted a bail amount of Rs 6.5 million.
KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has been granted bail in connection with the Suryadarshan Savings and Credit Cooperative embezzlement case.
The Kaski District Court ordered his release on Thursday after he posted a bail amount of Rs 6.5 million.
Lamichhane, a former Home Minister, will post the bail amount as stipulated by the court and remain free while the trial proceeds.
The District Government Attorney’s Office in Kaski had filed charges against Lamichhane on Dec 22, accusing him of embezzling cooperative funds, engaging in organized crime, and money laundering.
The case also includes organized crime charges against 19 of the accused, including Lamichhane.
Lamichhane was arrested on Oct 18 from the RSP office in Kathmandu and was subsequently transported to Pokhara for further investigation.
