Surya Darshan fraud case: Lamichhane pledges justice for victims if granted bail
The anticipation of a decision has prompted top leaders of the RSP to gather in Pokhara.
KATHMANDU: The Kaski District Court is currently drafting the verdict in the Surya Darshan Cooperative fraud case.
Among the accused is Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane, who faces charges of fraud, money laundering, and organized crime.
An indictment had been filed against him and others in connection with the cooperative scam.
Following the conclusion of the detention hearing, Judge Nitiz Rai of the Kaski District Court allowed Lamichhane and other defendants to present their statements after the government attorney’s rebuttal arguments.
During his statement, Lamichhane, a former Home Minister, expressed his commitment to seeking justice for the victims of the cooperative fraud.
He remarked, “If granted bail, I would work towards ensuring justice for the victims, Your Honor.”
The rebuttal arguments by the High Public Prosecutor’s Office and the District Public Prosecutor’s Office have concluded, raising the possibility that the court may issue its verdict today.
