Suspension bridge constructed at Kolubung Ramitedanda in Jhapa

KATHMANDU: A suspension bridge has been constructed over the Timai river at Kolubung Ramitedanda Gauda of Buddhashanti Rural Municipality in Jhapa district.

The 477-metre-long bridge connects Ward Nos 6 and 7 of the rural municipality.

The bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs 59 million 800 thousand 761 provided by the Federal Government. It is said that this bridge is the longest suspension bridge in Koshi Province.

Lawmaker and Nepali Congress general secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma had laid the foundation of the bridge on July 8, 2024.

Inaugurating the bridge here today, Sharma said the construction of the bridge has not only made the life of the people of Ward Nos 6 and 7 of the rural municipality easier, but it has also helped in the transportation of agriculture productions from Ilam to Jhapa.

Rural municipality Chair Manoj Prasai said the construction of bridge will also contribute to developing the place as a tourism destination, as the place where the bridge is constructed is geographically beautiful.

He said more than 500 visitors come to the place for sightseeing and trekking.
