KATHMANDU: The movie Karsang has garnered an overwhelmingly positive response during its premiere.

Attendees, including actors and individuals from various sectors, described the film as a must-watch for its authentic storytelling.

The premiere, held on Wednesday evening, was attended by prominent figures such as Dinesh DC, Chairperson of the Film Development Board, actors and directors including Deepa Shree Niraula, Dipendra K. Khanal, Ashok Sharma, Basanta Niraula, Kedar Ghimire (Magne Budha), Kiran KC (Rata Makai), poet Biplav Pratik, actor Anup Baral, Manish Raut, singer Kamal Khatri, and Melina Mainali, among others.

Karsang delves into the unique culture and traditions of the Sherpa community. Actors and attendees highlighted the movie’s success in authentically showcasing their way of life, urging audiences to experience the film for its cultural richness.

The film portrays the struggles of an individual living in poverty and the societal rejection faced by such individuals within their own community. It also explores the challenges of preserving cultural heritage amidst hardship. Post-screening feedback lauded the film as a poignant narrative that resonates deeply with Sherpa culture.

Actor Kedar Ghimire praised the movie, calling it an excellent cinematic creation. With its strong storyline and commendable performances, the production team is confident the film will win audiences’ hearts.

The premiere, held at City Center, Kathmandu, recreated an ambiance reminiscent of a Sherpa settlement. The waiting area was adorned with prayer flags and decorations that evoked a monastery-like atmosphere, adding to the cultural immersion.

Directed by Yam Sherpa, Karsang is set for release on Jan 10. The film revolves around a family-centric story set in a rural backdrop, shedding light on the struggles of poverty and cultural preservation within the Sherpa community.

The movie features an ensemble cast including Dayahang Rai, Sirjana Ningalehu, Jeetu Nepal, Diya Maskey, Buddhi Tamang, Srishti Gautam, Doma Hyolmo, Prem Lopchan, and Survir Pandit.

Produced by Purushottam Pradhan under the banners of Yarsa Films and Purushottam Pradhan Films, the movie is co-produced by Govinda Bohara, with Angchiring Sherpa serving as the executive producer.
