Violence erupts on BP Highway

KATHMANDU: A Tata Sumo, traveling from Diktel to Kathmandu, was vandalized at Patle Khet in Bhakundebesi, Kavre.
The incident occurred when passengers in a private car traveling from the opposite direction refused to give way, prompting passengers in the Tata Sumo (license plate Na 1 Ja 6172, from Tuwachung Maratika Transport Pvt. Ltd., Khotang) to throw stones and cause damage.
Based on public video footage, the Kavre District Police has arrested nine individuals involved in the incident.
The arrests were confirmed by DSP Min Bahadur Ghale, who stated, “The incident occurred in the evening, and the suspects were brought in later. Investigations are ongoing.”
The damaged road section at Roshi Khola, which was already narrow due to landslides from continuous rainfall on Sept 26 and 27, has further exacerbated the situation.
Legal action will be taken after the investigation.
