KATHMANDU: Some local governments in Kanchanpur district, Sudurpaschim Province, have halt school classes for four days due to the severe cold brought on by a persistent cold wave.

In response, Shuklaphanta Municipality, Punarbas Municipality, and Krishnapur Municipality have declared a four-day winter holiday starting today.
The decision applies to both private and community schools, with local authorities instructing institutions to halt classroom-based teaching to safeguard students’ health temporarily.
According to Khemraj Bista, Chief Administrative Officer of Shuklaphanta Municipality, the cold wave has significantly disrupted regular classroom activities and posed health risks to students, prompting the municipalities to act accordingly.
