Court orders release of Rishikesh Pokhrel’s wife Anjala on 10 lakh bail

KATHMANDU: The Morang District Court has ordered the release of Anjala Koirala, wife of Public Accounts Committee President Rishikesh Pokhrel, on bail.

Judge Uddhav Prasad Bhattarai’s bench granted the order to release her on a bail of 10 lakhs, according to court information officer Hem Bahadur Budhathoki.

Anjala Koirala, who had been absconding under allegations of embezzling savings from Umagauri Agriculture Cooperative in Dhanpalthan, Morang, appeared at the Morang District Court on Wednesday morning.

A hearing was held after her statement, where arguments for detention were discussed.

A case was filed on Dec 12, accusing Koirala and 25 others of embezzling 22.48 million rupees from the cooperative.

Koirala is also a teacher by profession.
