KATHMANDU: The Butwal–Narayanghat section of the East-West Highway, which had been completely blocked, has resumed one-way traffic.

The road was rendered impassable at Khursanikhola in Daunne, Bardaghat Municipality-4, due to dense fog and frost, making the surface dangerously slippery.

Following continuous efforts, the section was reopened for one-way operation, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Information Officer Resham Bohara of the Nawalparasi District Police Office.

He stated that traffic resumed at 2 PM today, with vehicles being allowed to pass alternately under strict traffic management.

DSP Bohara noted that the ongoing construction in the Daunne area has made one-way operation particularly challenging.

Since Tuesday, heavy fog and persistent frost have created hazardous travel conditions, leading to the suspension of vehicular movement earlier today.

Efforts to fully reopen the highway are underway.

Chief District Officer Skim Shrestha, along with security officials, police, and local stakeholders, are actively involved in clearing and repairing the road to ensure two-way traffic can resume soon.
