Public Accounts Committee President’s wife, Anjala Koirala, appears in court

KATHMANDU: Anjala Koirala, wife of Public Accounts Committee President Rishikesh Pokharel, appeared at the Morang District Court on Wednesday.

The court had issued an arrest warrant for her on Dec 17.

She is accused of embezzling funds from Umagauri Agricultural Cooperative in Dhanpaltan-4, Morang, where she was a member of the former management committee.

Along with Koirala, 26 individuals, including Shambhu Rauniar, the cooperative’s chairperson, and Santlal Khawas, the ward chair of Rangeli-2, have also been named in the case.

Ward chair Khawas has already been released on bail of Rs 500,000.

Anjala Koirala, who is also a teacher, is the wife of Rishikesh Pokharel, the chair of the Public Accounts Committee in the House of Representatives.
