Over 10,000 foreign tourists visit Manaslu region in 2024
This was an increase of 1,428 tourists compared to the previous year, which saw 9,177 foreign visitors.
KATHMANDU: Over 10,000 foreign tourists visited the Manaslu region in northern Gorkha in the past year.
Bhuwanraj Ojha, Conservation Officer and Information Officer at the Manaslu Conservation Area Project (MCAP), shared that 10,605 foreign tourists visited the area in 2024.
This was an increase of 1,428 tourists compared to the previous year, which saw 9,177 foreign visitors.
Among the visitors, tourists from third countries outnumbered those from SAARC nations.
France contributed the highest number, with 1,335 tourists. Germany followed with 1,181 visitors, while the United States had 796. Among SAARC countries, India sent the most tourists to Manaslu, with 159 visitors.
Tourists from the Netherlands, the UK, Australia, Spain, China, and other countries also visited the region.
The trekking routes in Manaslu allow visitors to explore Nubri Valley, Kulchuman (Kal) Lake, the world’s eighth-highest mountain, Manaslu, Birendra Lake, and Larkya Pass, which leads to Manang.
The route also offers views of the famous Shringi Himal, Rajen Monastery, and other scenic spots, along with opportunities to enjoy wildlife like Himalayan Cheetah, Naur, Ghoral, Danphe, Munal, and Chauri.
