Movie ‘Unko Sweater’ secures Int’l distribution rights
The rights for regions including the United States, Australia, the Middle East, Malta, and Malaysia have been acquired by Seven Seas International Films, led by Patrick Subedi and Ramesh Dhakal.
KATHMANDU: The upcoming Nepali film Unko Sweater, slated for release on May 9, 2025 (Baisakh 26, 2082), has secured international distribution rights.
The rights for regions including the United States, Australia, the Middle East, Malta, and Malaysia have been acquired by Seven Seas International Films, led by Patrick Subedi and Ramesh Dhakal.
Additionally, the film’s rights have been purchased by Panchthar Seva Samaj for South Korea, MGP Entertainment, Aagan Events, and I & U Entertainment for Canada.
In the European market (excluding the UK), Mama Events and Gurung KNS Entertainment have acquired the rights, while Seva LL Company will handle distribution in Japan. Director Navin Chauhan confirmed that the film will release simultaneously in all these countries on the official release date in Nepal.
The song “Makhamali,” released 12 days before the film, made a strong impact by topping YouTube’s trending list for 10 consecutive days.
Currently, the song has garnered around 4 million views, securing the second spot in Nepal. It also achieved top trends in countries with significant Nepali diaspora, including Malta, Qatar, Australia, UAE, and Kuwait.
The film’s previously released song “Phool” has surpassed 16 million views, further contributing to the film’s growing buzz. Both songs were composed and sung by renowned Nepali artist Sujan Chapagai.
Unko Sweater is the first feature film produced by Artmandu Pvt. Ltd., directed by Navin Chauhan, with co-writing by Suraj Katwal.
The film stars popular actors such as Bipin Karki, Miruna Magar, Sunil Pokharel, Mao Tse Gurung, Wilson Bikram Rai, Prem Subba, Alex Paras, Parisha Limbu, Suraj Tamu, and Bhawana Khapangi Magar, among others.
