First snowfall of the year blankets Ghodepani
Following the snowfall, temperatures have dropped significantly, disrupting daily life.
KATHMANDU: Ghodepani, a scenic village in Annapurna Rural Municipality-6 of Myagdi, experienced its first snowfall of the season this afternoon.
Situated at an altitude of 2,800 meters above sea level, Ghodepani is a major destination on the Annapurna Circuit trekking route, which spans the districts of Myagdi, Mustang, Manang, Lamjung, and Kaski in Gandaki Province.
Local hotel entrepreneur Bishan Rana confirmed the snowfall, saying, “It snowed for about an hour this afternoon. Snow has accumulated in damp areas and on hilltops.”
Following the snowfall, temperatures have dropped significantly, disrupting daily life.
Residents are staying indoors, warming themselves by the fire.
Earlier today, light rainfall was recorded in Myagdi after nearly three months.
While the rain provided some relief for winter crops, agricultural technicians and farmers noted that it was insufficient for irrigation needs.
