KATHMANDU: A 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck the Dingge County of Tibet, China, with its tremors felt notably in the hilly and mountainous districts of Koshi Province.

In Taplejung, Chief District Officer (CDO) Netra Prasad Sharma confirmed the tremor, noting that efforts to assess potential damages are underway, with local bodies, Nepal Police, and the Armed Police Force mobilized for information gathering.

Similarly, Sankhuwasabha CDO Binod Kumar Khadka stated that no reports of physical or human damage have been received yet, and authorities are actively collecting necessary information.

In Solukhumbu, CDO Anoj Kumar Ghimire mentioned the strong tremor and highlighted the potential risks to the Everest Base Camp area, assuring that security agencies have been deployed to gather details.

Panchthar CDO Vishnu Koirala also confirmed the mobilization of security forces to assess any possible damages.

Additionally, Bhojpur District Administration Officer Krishna Basnet reported that the earthquake’s tremors were felt in the district, with efforts underway to determine any resulting damage through local authorities and security forces.
