CIB raids illegal call center, detains 53, seizes laptops & mobiles

KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) raided an illegal call center operating in Satdobato, Lalitpur, and detained 53 individuals.

The raid was conducted by a team led by Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Deepak Thapa on Monday night.

According to CIB, among those arrested, two are Indian nationals, while the rest are Nepali.

During the operation, 85 laptops and 82 mobile phones were seized.

Initial investigations revealed that the call center was involved in online gambling and other illegal activities.

Further investigations are ongoing, and the detainees will be kept in custody pending the extension of their remand by the court, after which necessary legal actions will be taken.
