Mother & newborn die on way to hospital

KATHMANDU: A sad incident occurred in Kedarsyu Rural Municipality-1, Bajhang, where a 21-year-old pregnant woman and her newborn baby died while being taken to the hospital.

Sabita Bohara passed away on Monday after giving birth to her child during the journey.

According to local women accompanying her, she delivered the baby while being carried to the hospital.

Ward Chairperson Bir Bahadur Bhandari confirmed that Bohara suffered excessive bleeding after childbirth, leading to her death. Sadly, the newborn also died shortly after birth.

This incident highlights the critical need for accessible maternal healthcare in remote areas.
