KATHMANDU: An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 struck near Dingye County on the Nepal-China border in Tibet this morning, as confirmed by Nepal’s Department of Mines and Geology.

The tremor occurred at 6:50 AM and was widely felt across Nepal, with significant jolts reported from eastern to central regions of the country.

The earthquake also impacted areas in Tibet.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 28.58 degrees north latitude and 87.39 degrees east longitude.

Tremors were felt in Kathmandu, Dhading, Sindhupalchowk, Kavre, Makawanpur, and several other districts.

Social media users reported that tremors were also felt in Nepal’s Morang district.

The shaking lasted for a brief period, leaving people alarmed.

Details of damages and casualties are yet to be reported as local authorities continue collecting information.
