46 leaders & activists of CPN-UML resign collectively
The collective resignations of the 46 leaders and activists on Dec 26 indicate their support for Rawal.
KATHMANDU: A total of 46 leaders and activists from the Godawari Municipality Committee in Kailali have submitted their collective resignations.
The resignations, effective from Dec 26, have been prompted by concerns over the authoritarian tendencies of CPN-UML’s leadership, particularly under General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel, as well as his continued criticism of the People’s War.
The resigning members shared that after the merger of the CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Centre) to form the CPN, they and other leaders in the region were initially optimistic.
However, they felt compelled to leave the party due to the oppression from General Secretary Pokhrel.
On Dec 25, the CPN-UML Secretariat took disciplinary action against Vice-Chair Bhim Rawal, expelling him from the party, including stripping him of his ordinary membership.
