Teenagers missing for a week found dead in Dailekh
The deceased, identified as 17-year-old Sharmila Thapa and 17-year-old Man Singh BK.
KATHMANDU: Two teenagers who had been missing for a week in Dailekh were found dead in a forest on Sunday.
The deceased, identified as 17-year-old Sharmila Thapa and 17-year-old Man Singh BK, were residents of Manghar Tole, Bhagwatimai Rural Municipality-4.
According to the District Police Office, Dailekh, the teenagers were students at Kalika Secondary School in Manghar.
Man Singh was in grade 10, while Sharmila was in grade 9.
District Police Chief DSP Sunil Dahal stated that the teenagers were reported missing on Saturday, Dec 28. “We had been searching for them since receiving the report.
Their bodies were found in the Tusore forest, located some distance from their homes,” he said.
Preliminary investigations suggest the two were in a relationship and might have left home after their families disapproved of their marriage plans.
“We suspect this might be the reason, but further investigation is underway,” DSP Dahal added.
The teenagers were discovered hanging from a single rope, leading to suspicions of suicide.
Their bodies have been sent to the District Hospital, Dailekh, for post-mortem examination.
