KATHMANDU: The highly anticipated Nepali movie “Balidan” has added a unique chapter to its production journey.
In line with the film’s story, a towering 42-foot statue of Goddess Kali in her Chandika form, symbolizing the destruction of demonic forces, has been created.
Director Santosh Sen shared that despite searching across Nepal, the team couldn’t find a suitable statue.
As a result, they traveled to Kolkata, India, where they collaborated with skilled Kalighat artists to craft the statue. ”
We needed a unique and grand Kali statue for the film. After an extensive search across the country, we couldn’t find the statue we envisioned. Eventually, we reached Kolkata and, in collaboration with local artisans, created the 42-foot Kali statue,” Sen explained.
The journey of creating the statue was challenging, but it has given a new identity to the Hasina Simasar area in Morang, particularly the Budhasubba Ground, which has become well-known as “Kali Chaur” even before the film’s shooting was completed.
The construction of a stage and more than 200 stalls has provided local employment opportunities and established a mini market in the area.
According to Director Santosh Sen, the filming of “Balidan” is nearly complete, and the official release date, along with the teaser, will be announced once the shooting wraps up.
To make the action scenes more thrilling, the film has enlisted renowned South Indian action director Stunder Sam and his team of 30 professionals who are using cutting-edge technology.
The story of “Balidan” is based on the struggle against injustice occurring on Nepal’s sovereign soil and the so-called leaders of society.
Presented by “Aasusen Films Pvt. Ltd.,” the film features Pawan Bradford Bist as the producer and Prem Puri as the co-producer.
With its portrayal of Nepali society’s reality, grand visuals, and advanced technology, “Balidan” is expected to become a favorite among cinema lovers.
